Planting Trees, Growing Together

For the past 25 years AISLING have been proud to partner with the Tree Council of Ireland, working together to raise awareness of the importance of our native tree population. In honour of National Tree Week 2025, we’re taking a look back at the roots of our partnership and how we plan on continuing to grow together.

From a Seed of an Idea to a Forest of Opportunity

We began our partnership with the Tree Council of Ireland in 2000 with a simple idea. We wanted to bring the wonder of nature to the classroom and inspire the next generation of children to protect their natural surroundings.

So, we started featuring the Tree Council of Ireland's logo alongside fascinating facts about native Irish trees on the back covers of our AISLING copybooks, a practice we proudly continue to this day.

This shared goal - to instil children with a love of nature and an interest in forestry conservation - has led AISLING and the Tree Council of Ireland to our most ambitious collaboration yet.

We’ve committed to planting one tree for every national school in Ireland, so that one day, our saplings will become part of a dedicated forest area for future generations to enjoy.

Putting Our Green Thumb to Good Use

On Tuesday 11th March 2025 we travelled to Ballymacarbry in Co. Waterford as part of the Tree Week 2025 celebrations. Here we met with Cormac Downey, President of the Tree Council of Ireland, and Brendan Fitzsimons, CEO, who showed us around the site and Martin Hennessey, a seasoned arborist who gave us a hands-on lesson in planting.

On this site we’ve planted a variety of native trees such as scots pine, oak, alder, birch, hazel and cherry which will grow to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

As our trees begin to grow, we will continue to promote environmental awareness and remain steadfast in our commitment to sustainable manufacturing processes.

“The Tree Council of Ireland are pleased to continue our long-running partnership with AISLING. Our shared commitment to preserving our forestry and woodland for the next generation is at the heart of our collaboration.

We hope that the woodland at Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford will raise awareness of the vital role native Irish trees play in our ecosystem.”

Creating a Greener Future

It is our hope that by creating a space dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of our native trees we can:

🌳Support the Tree Council of Ireland in its mission to sustain and grow Ireland’s forestry and woodlands for future generations.

🌳 Combat the effects of climate change by planting trees that absorb carbon dioxide and release life-giving oxygen.

🌳Grow our native tree population to help preserve our arboreal heritage.

🌳Provide educational opportunities for children to learn about nature and how best to take care of our environment.

You can be sure that when you choose AISLING, you’re choosing to make a positive impact on our environment. With every AISLING copy book you purchase, you help protect our native trees and preserve our woodlands for generations to come.

Together, we can create a better, greener future, one tree at a time!

This year marks a proud milestone for Victor Stationery as we celebrate 25 years of partnership with the Tree Council of Ireland. To commemorate this enduring collaboration, we are thrilled to announce a landmark initiative: the planting of a tree for every national school in Ireland within the very first Aisling Native Woodland.

For over two decades, the Tree Council of Ireland’s logo has appeared on the back covers of our Aisling copy books, offering schoolchildren a window into Ireland’s rich arboreal heritage. These copy books have served not only as tools for learning but also as gateways to environmental awareness, helping to inspire a generation of students to care about nature and sustainability.

This initiative reflects Victor Stationery’s commitment to responsible manufacturing and environmental stewardship. Through our ongoing support of the Tree Council of Ireland’s mission—to plant, establish, and protect trees throughout the country—we continue to lead by example in promoting sustainability and education.

Together, we look forward to planting the seeds of a greener future for Ireland’s youth.
