SEN & Neurodivergent Friendly Range
Did you know? Tinted paper is proven to alleviate visual stress which is particularly beneficial for individuals with Mears-Irlen Syndrome (MIS), a condition often associated with dyslexia, and for those who struggle with the glare and visual distortions caused by white paper.
At Victor Stationery it's our mission to assist people of all ages to improve their learning and communications; books and pads are designed fit for purpose and meet the exacting requirements of quality and performance.
The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) states that Dyslexia, in particular, influences 1 in 10 people in the UK and 49% of all school classes have at least one student with Dyslexia. It is also clear that if a child is undiagnosed in their formative years, it can leave a lifelong impact.

" I like writing on this paper so much I've stopped using white. The coloured background is very calming on my eyes as I write, compared with writing on bright white paper." - Robot Shaz
The All-Inclusive Range
Victor Stationery works closely with teachers and students to ensure our RHINO educational products support learning for all ages across the curriculum. During a period of extensive research, we identified a demand to manufacture a RHINO solution to benefit Special Education Needs (SEN) children from early years through to teens, and can even help adults in the workplace. The aim of the product range is to assist with learning, promote self-confidence and reduce visual stress for individuals who suffer with Meares Irlen Syndrome (MIS), which is a condition related to individuals with Dyslexia, and for those who find it difficult to write on white paper – which can create glare and ‘jumping’ lines/words.
It soon became apparent, during the testing and production process, that it was not only essential to create a fit- for- purpose product range, but we felt it is important to drive awareness and encourage open discussions regarding neurodivergences, and something we consistently try to achieve through our marketing channels, with the conscious use of positive language and working closely with experts in this field.
Supporting Neurodivergent Individuals
As an additional positive outcome, the RHINO tinted product range not only assists those with learning differences commonly associated with Dyslexia and Meares-Irlen Syndrome (MIS), but also Dysgraphia, Dyspraxia and Autism. The National Autistic Society has recently explained that the difficulty with visual perceptual processing is not an ‘eye’ problem. It affects well over 50% of people with autism but also occurs in approximately 15% of the population. It is caused by hypersensitivity to certain wavelengths on full spectrum light which provokes the brain to process visual information incorrectly.
The RHINO tinted product range has a variety of refill pads, and exercise books with robust and sturdy Manilla covers, consisting of pastel blue, yellow, pink, green and cream coloured ‘bleed-resistant’ 80gsm and matt finished educational standard paper. This specification of paper reduces the opacity from the reverse side of the page and adds a preferred texture to work with for individuals with learning differences - offering the ability to control the pen more easily in comparison to a smooth finish.
Embracing Differences
These are all important details Victor Stationery took into consideration when developing the products – with the aim to benefit users to read and write in a more precise and accurate manner and to potentially increase engagement and performance in the classroom and office environment.
This range is synonymous with our mission statement, and its significance in making a real difference to an individual’s ability to read and write comfortably, by offering the right shades of coloured paper, and making learning enjoyable. The product range will continue to grow in the future, with new product development projects in place, to continually enhance each child’s learning experience by utilising and embracing their differences in the best possible way. " I purchased for myself for two reasons; being dyslexic I struggle with writing against white surfaces and being left-handed, I prefer the bound of the paper to be at the top rather than at the side. The green really does help with my writing and I cannot fault the paper... the lines are spaced out perfectly and are comfortable to write on." - Dec Gibson
